Leta J. Pullings went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Amarillo, TX. She was born in Wanette, Ok on August 7, 1931 to Ralph and Jewel Pratt. She was the third of four children. The dust bowl brought them to Roswell, NM instead of California where she grew up and graduated from high school. Jean met her husband of 65 years, Harold R. Pullings while he was stationed at Walker Air Force Base. She traveled out of the country many times with her husband during 30 years of the service. They had two sons, Harold R. Pullings Jr. (Bob) born in French Moracco, Africa and Brian Don Pullings born in Roswell, NM.
After retirement they moved to Hobbs, NM where Jean was very active in her church throughout her life. She was a Pink Lady for 20 plus years at Lea Regional Hospital and received many awards of recognition. Jean enjoyed her swimming class during the summer months with her lady friends. Her husband would say "that's how we knew the ‘news' of the day". She moved to Clovis, NM four years ago to be close to only family Bob and his wife Betty. She was embraced by the large Ortiz family, which she enjoyed, coming from a small family. The love of her life were her grandkids.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Deacon Bob Pullings and wife Betty; grandchildren Derek Pullings (Renee) of Battle Ground, WA, Chris Pullings of Long View, WA, Gabe Pullings of Takoma, WA, Sarah Avila-Celedon (Gregorio) of Canbria, CA., Anna Pullings (Clayton) of Tennessee, Erin Pullings of Shreveport, LA, Diane Book of Albuquerque, NM, Melinda Ludi of Albuquerque, NM and Ida Salazar (Ron) also of Albuquerque, NM; great grandchildren Annika, Xander, Aria, Everly, Amery, Tyler, Miles Mya, Noah and Alicia. Also surviving her are her two great-great grandchildren Lindsey and Samuel.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son, two brothers, one sister, one niece and one nephew.
Graveside service will be held at a later date in Hobbs, NM where she will be interred with her husband.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Retirement Ranch, Accolade Home Care, Beehive of Amarillo and BSA. Also a special thanks to family and friends for thoughts and prayers during our time of need.
