Lillian M. Finifrock of Clovis, NM
Lillian was born June 19, 1918 in Barnum, Minnesota, 30 miles south of Duluth and the shores of Lake Superior. She passed away after a two and onehalf year stay at the Farwell Convalescent Center on Sunday afternoon, 12 January. Lillians parents both immigrated to the United States from Norway in the late 1800s, and eventually settled in Minnesota. Lillian was the youngest of 5 children, all of which are now deceased. She spent her winters wading through the snow to help with farm chores and to school, ice skating and sledding. Her summers were filled with swimming in local lakes, picking blueberries, and playing with friends in the sandbanks by the lake. She taught herself how to play an old pump organ, and then music became an integral part of her life. She married Earl Finifrock in 1936 and had two children in Minnesota prior to moving to the Southwest in 1948 due to health reasons where two more children were born. Lillian fell in love with the Great Southwest skies, sunsets, weather and people. She was a church pianist and the baker at the high school cafeteria in Clovis.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Earl who passed away in 1993, and is survived by her daughter Karen Holland Darrell and son Edward both of Clovis, a daughter Mary Finifrock Ausland Lynn of both Yakima, WA and Clovis, and a son David Janie of Bainbridge Island, WA, her foster family Gene and Marcie Oestermyer of Lubbock, TX, adopted grandchildren, the Van der Ploeg family of Clovis, and many, many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren around the country.
Lillian Finifrock was wellloved and respected by just about everyone who knew her. She never failed to see the best in all people and all situations, always with a ready smile, a helping hand or a word of encouragement........she will be sorely missed, but she is now resting in Heaven with all of the loved ones who preceded her.
