Lillian Root

Lillian Stroud Root, age 78, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home in Clovis. She was born October 19, 1932 in Clovis, NM to William A. W.A. and Elsie Lewis Stroud. She met Herbert Andrew Root while they were on a short term volunteer mission trip. They got married on October 7, 1951 in Clovis. She lived in numerous locations while Herb was in the Ministry with the Church of the Brethren. After Herb left ministry they resided in Bellevue, NE until 1993 when they came back to Clovis to care for her mother and aunt and she remained in Clovis until her death. She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God.

She is survived by one son, Galen Barbara Root of Clovis, NM two daughters Karen Dale Skinner of Eastland, TX and Sandy Robert Storer of Springdale, AR three sisters, Vona John Uxer of El Paso, TX, Colleen Frank Ezell of San Antonio, TX and Carolyn Ernie Marshall of Portales, NM one brother, Johnny Cora Stroud of Portales, NM eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Proceeded in death: Husband, Herbert Root, parents, two brothers W.A. Stroud, Jr., Roy Stroud and one sister, Bonnie Franck.

Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at New Life Assembly of God in Clovis with Pastor Scott Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Tim Skinner, Jonathan Natelli, Michael Root, Johnny Stroud, Dale Skinner, and Ernie Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be John Elmo Uxer and Frank Ezell.
