Lois Franks

Lois Ann Franks, 72, of Melrose, New Mexico, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico. She was born March 3, 1936 in Clovis to Aaron Pauline Thompson Richardson.

She graduated from Melrose High School and Eastern New Mexico University. She met Grayford E. Gene Franks when he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base and they married November 18, 1956 in Clovis. They lived in Portales, New Mexico and Missouri, before moving to Melrose. She received a masters degree from Eastern and taught school in Clovis, Missouri and 6th grade in Melrose until her retirement. She was an avid quilter and was active in the Melrose Senior Center, where she had many friends. She enjoyed activities and sporting events with her grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Doni Franks of Taos, New Mexico and Cyndy Hemminger Darral of St. Vrain, New Mexico; 1 sister, Patsy Felts of Morton, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Audrey, Aaron, Brian Braden Hemminger all of St. Vrain. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Melrose with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.
