Lola Coffey

Graveside services for Lola Mae Coffey, 92, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, in the chapel at the Melrose cemetery with Randy Dunson and Wendell Belcher officiating.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00PM on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Steed Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.

She was born May 19, 1922, in the Rock Lake community west of Melrose in Roosevelt County to the home of Edward Livingston Carter and Nina Mae Payne Carter.

She graduated from Melrose High School in 1939. Lola Mae married Lee Roy Coffey on December 17, 1940, in Clovis, NM. To this union were born two children, Billy Roy Coffey and Anna Beth Coffey. Lola Mae and Lee Roy were bless with 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2006 .Lola Mae drove a school bus for 22 years for the Melrose school district and also worked in the school lunch room for many years. She and Lee Roy loved to square dance and Lee Roy was one of the favorite callers for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lee Roy; daughter, Beth Coffey Austin; sister, Dorothy Carter Outhouse Sparks; brother, Donal Carter and sister, Faye Carter Pruitt.

Survivors include one son, Bill Coffey and wife Joyce of Rock Springs, WY; four grandchildren, Jodi Guerin, Terri Coffey, Brian Coffey and Cody Coffey. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, son-in-law ,Dorman Austin and wife Jeanie; four cousins, Lynn Carter, Mona Lee Robinson, Verle Burdette and Jim Payne along with in-laws, Leon Coffey and Wanda Richmond plus three very special friends, Louise Adams, Ruth Randleman and Evelyn Harmon along with a host of other friends and neighbors.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Melrose Fire Department, P.O. Box 235, Melrose, NM 88124.
