Lula Geneva Vandiver, age 93, of Clovis, NM died Wednesday April 4, 2012 at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born on January 8, 1919 in Boswell, Oklahoma. She moved to Clovis, NM in 1940 where she met Opal Earl Vandiver. They were married on September 14, 1940. They were married 61 years prior to his death on July 29, 2001.
She was a faithful member of The Fairview Primitive Baptist Church of Clovis, NM. Geneva also enjoyed having meals and visiting with her friends at CASMA Senior Diners Club.
She is survived by three children: Pasty Short and husband Jerry of T or C, New Mexico Shirley Chandler and husband Fred of Silver City, New Mexico and Earl Vandiver and wife Shirley of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, one sisterinlaw: Janelle Pershall and husband Harold of Kingman, Arizona and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at The Fairview Primitive Baptist Church, 5th and Johnson, Clovis, New Mexico with Elder Steve Baldock officiating. Lula will be at the funeral home for viewing until 8 p.m. this evening. Casket bearers are David Norton, Grante Myers, Lonnie Jarrett, Philip Jackson, Rascal Gutierrez and Wayne Venable. Honorary Pallbearers are her extended church family and friends.
Interment will follow at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico.
