Manis Blanton, age 79, of Clovis, NM, a Fireman and local business owner passed away on May 10, 2018 at Covenant Specialty Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
Manis was born in Valdosta, Georgia on May 5, 1939. His father's name was Hollie Randolph Blanton and his mother was Lucille Brandon.
Manis and first wife Linnie Pate had four children. He later married Geraldine Credle on December 11, 1976 in Clovis, New Mexico. Manis worked for the Clovis Fire Department for almost 20 years and was proud of his service to the community. He was a man of faith, he loved the Lord, and he loved the outdoors, fishing, making people laugh, playing his guitar, and spending time with family, friends and his dog Cisco.
Manis is preceded in death by: his father, Hollie Randolph Blanton and mother, Lucille Brandon Clark; brother, Jimmy Eric Blanton; first wife, Linnie (Stuart) Pate, deceased on January 25, 2018; the love of his life, wife Geraldine Blanton; and granddaughter, Tuesday Hope Credle.
He is survived by: one sister, Judy Pinkston of Florida; three sons, Ricky (Charlene) Blanton of Lake Forest, California, William (aka Bill) L. Blanton of St. Augustine, Florida, and Matt (Bernice) Blanton of Clovis, New Mexico; one daughter, Cindy Harmer (Mark Edwards) of Lubbock, Texas; two step-sons, Steve (Susan) Credle of Clovis, New Mexico and Shane (Melody) Credle of Portsmouth, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, James Blanton, Seka (Billy) Guhrke, Selina Marriott (Tim Garcia), Lisa (Terrell) McGruder, Justine Blanton (Terrance Martinez), Hayden Blanton, Ryan (Kayci) Credle, Brannon Credle, Madison Credle, Mackenzie Credle and Tucker Credle; ten great-grandchildren, O'Ryin and Zolin Guhrke, Blayze and Zayden Garcia, T.J., Lala and Tavian DeCoty McGruder, Anthony and Nehemiah Martinez, and Peyton Credle.
Graveside services will be on Monday, May 21, 2018, 10:00am at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden Cemetery with Darryl Baldwin officiating. Pallbearers will be Ricky Blanton, Bill Blanton, Matt Blanton, Mark Edwards, Steve Credle and Shane Credle. Honorary bearers are all of his grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Manis Blanton's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Bobadilla and his staff, the many wonderful nurses and doctors at UMC of Lubbock and finally the Covenant Specialty Hospital of Lubbock.
