Manual Pedro Pete Barela, 66, of Clovis, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on January 1, 1944 in Clovis, New Mexico, to Liberto and Nastora Chavez Barela.

Pete was raised in Clovis and married Celina Alires on April 26, 1964. They lived in Albuquerque for 10 years, and moved back to Clovis where Pete was selfemployed as a plumber. He also worked for Archies Plumbing. Pete loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, and was involved in MakeaWish Foundation and Toys for Tots. He loved playing the guitar and played in a band for several years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Pete is survived by his wife of 46 years, Celina Barela two daughters, Brenda Ramirez of Clovis, and Rana Mark Posthuma of Puyallup, Washington three brothers, Alfonso Barela and Joe Barela of Clovis, and Frankie Barela of Albuquerque, New Mexico one sister, Dolores Lucero of Clovis three grandchildren, Jacob Lenesia Ramirez and Phillip Ramirez of Clovis, and Zakary Posthuma of Puyallup, Washington three greatgrandchildren, Makayla Ramirez, Draven Ramirez, and Arianna Ramirez, all of Clovis and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents one son, Gino Barela three brothers, Gilbert Barela, Joe Eloy Barela, and Robert Barela and one sister, Mary Ann Barela.

A Rosary will be held Wednesday, July 21, 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church . Pallbearers will be Frankie Barela, Alfonso Barela, Joe Eloy Barela, Johnny Lucero, Jimmy Alires and Raymond Alires. A Mass of the Ressurection will be held Thursday, July 22, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack Jouett, Ray McKenna, Jacob Ramirez, Phillip Ramirez, Chris Pacheco, Tim Barela and Mark Posthuma. Cremation will follow services.
