Manuel Barela

Manuel Ramon Barela, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family in Clovis, New Mexico. His journey began on September 8, 1939, when he was welcomed into the world by his loving parents, Espiridion and Carolina Barela, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. A man of humble beginnings, Manuel attended school in Fort Sumner before embarking on a life filled with hard work and dedication.

In 1967, he married the love of his life, Rosemary, in Long Beach, California, creating a partnership that would endure through thick and thin. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family, one that would see them welcome children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren into the world. Manuel dedicated himself to his work as a contractor, contributing to the community through his craftsmanship and commitment.

Manuel's heart was larger than life, filled with stories of a rich legacy. He cherished every moment shared with his dear children-Carol, Angelina, and Debbie-and took immense pride in his grandchildren: Destiny, Breanna, Victor, Isreal, Salina, Teresa, Vanessa and Jessi. The joy of being a great-grandfather to Cheyenne, Romeo, Mason, Moses, Tricia, Xenon and Jillian brought him boundless happiness.

Though he is preceded in death by beloved family members, including his parents, brothers, sisters, and his two sons, Daniel Robert Barela and Manuel Anthony Barela, Manuel's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

His family invites friends and loved ones to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life. Visitation will take place at Steed-Todd Funeral Home on January 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

As we reflect on Manuel's life, we remember a man who exemplified strength and kindness, whose laughter and warmth will resonate in our hearts for years to come. May he rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the love he so deeply fostered.
