Manuela Castillo

Manuela R. Castillo, age 81, entered into rest at her home in Portales, NM on the morning of Monday, April 3, 2017.

She was born on September 15, 1935 to the home of Enrique and Dolores (Treviño) Rodriguez in Rocksprings, TX. She married Porfirio Castillo on November 16, 1949 in Paducah, TX. They were married for 57 years. She has joined her loving husband whom passed away on April 7, 2007. Manuela was a great cook! A pastime she enjoyed was cooking for family and friends whenever she was given the opportunity. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles, adult coloring books, playing card games, and was a Champion at playing dominoes. Family was priority and everyone knew that she would welcome them into her home with open arms. Among all her favorite things to do, she loved her family time. Those precious memories will be kept sacred within our hearts forever.

Manuela is survived by her daughter, Anna (Alvaro) Gomez, Sr.; a granddaughter that she raised as her own, Melissa (Victor) Cano; a grandson, Alvaro Gomez, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Destynea Martinez and Gyzelle Cano; a brother Enrique Rodriguez; a sibling group of nieces & nephews that she cared for as her own as well as numerous loving family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and two brothers.

Visitation will take place at Steed-Todd Funeral Home on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00am to 8:00pm. A funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:30am, New Mexico time in the Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, NM. Burial will be held at 2:00pm Texas time in the Friona Cemetery, Friona, TX.
