Margaret Fury

April 6, 1925 — May 30, 2016

Margaret Helen Fury beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister passed away on May 30, 2016 in Clovis, NM after a long and fruitful life. Margaret was the eldest of 8 children of Aldeberto & Margarita Semadeni from Poschiavo, Switzerland. She was born in Cortez, Colorado on April 6, 1925 where her parents had migrated and lived for the remainder of their lives. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Cedar Point, Colorado. Starting school she spoke only Swiss, but together she and her Mom learned the English language with the help of her father and 1st grade teacher. She married John Fury on April 5, 1941 in Dove Creek, Colorado and they settled on a farm in Grady, New Mexico where they farmed, ranched and raised their 5 children. Margaret was self-taught and could do anything she set her mind to do she excelled in gardening, sewing, painting and most of all cooking meals for family and friends, including an attitude that there was always room for one more at the table. She was a beautiful generous individual with a competitive spirit. She instilled in her children and grandchildren her determination, grit and principles encouraging them to be strong and independent. Her grandchildren were one of the greatest joys of her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church since 1942. She loved her Grady community, attending sports events and volunteering at the Senior Center when needed. She enriched the lives of all and will be greatly missed.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband John Fury, daughter Joyce (Fury) Adamek, son-in-law Michael Lix, daughter-in-law Sherry Fury, grandson Jared Fury, and great-granddaughter Cassidy Lix.

Margaret is survived by sons Steve Fury and Stanley Fury (Cathy), daughters Josie Lix and Janice Phillips (Jim) son-in-law Jerry Adamek (Cindy). 16 grandchildren, 2 step granddaughters, 18 great grandchildren, 2 step great-granddaughters, and 1 step great-grandsons.

Pallbearers will be grandson's Kevin Lix, Russell Lix, Kyle Lix, Brett Lix, Chris Adamek, John Fury, Jonathan Fury.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandson Jess Fury, son-in-law's Jim Phillips and Jerry Adamek.

In Leiu of flowers Memorials in Margaret Fury's name may be given to Grady Alumni Scholarship Fund, Rachael Armstrong, 4007 CR O, Grady, NM 88120.

Visitation held Friday, June 3, 2016 from 9:00am-6:00pm at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Rosary will be Friday, June 3, 2016 6:00pm at Steed Todd Chapel.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 4, 2016 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 921 Merriwether Clovis, NM with Fr. Phillips Kaim Officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery in Clovis, NM

Reception to Follow at Sacred Heart Church Hall located at 921 Merriwether.
