Maggie A. Long, ended her long running journey here on earth to reach her final destination on August 3, 2012, to be with the Lord. She was born on September 20, 1912 in Seymour, Texas, so she would have reached her 100th Birthday in a little over a month. The big celebration party we were planning will have to be celebrated with loved ones who have gone before her.
Maggie was the second oldest of eight children, born to Lemuel and Vennie Taylor. She was preceded in death by her mom and dad and siblings, Quinnie Burkett, James Taylor, Dueward Taylor, Ruben Taylor, and Peggy Howard. Also preceeding her was her first husband, and beloved second husband, Floyd Long, and Floyds son Danny.
Survivors are her daughter Patsy Montey Welsh three grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren two sisters, Ruth Miller, and Joyce Art Jones two sistersin law, Tiny and Ollie Taylor. She will also be missed by Floyds daughterinlaw, Mary Jo Long and her six children and seventeen great grandchildren. They also called her Grandma.
She was a member of the BaxterCurren Senior Citizen Center and Sandia Baptist Church.
Maggie and Floyd had a wonderful time camping, fishing, and square dancing. Many friends and relatives enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with them.
Services for Maggie will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Sandia Baptist Church with Kelly Hartz, officiating. Burial will follow in the Melrose Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, John Hicks, John Colt Hicks, Joshua Hicks, Andy Irwin, and Brian Moles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
