Marietta Johnson

Marietta D. Johnson, 86 of Clovis, passed away on July 19, 2017 in Farwell, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am MST Saturday July 22, 2017 at the Steed Todd Chapel with Rane Carpenter (Grandson) of Spring Creek Baptist Church, Meridian, Texas, and Russ Ponder of First Baptist Church of Farwell, officiating. Burial will follow at Hollene Cemetery. Arrangements are by Steed Todd Funeral Home.

Marietta was born in Hollene, New Mexico to Jesse J. Rierson and Callie Mae (Miller) Rierson on February 26, 1931. She married Henry Calvin (Johnny) Johnson on August 4, 1950 in Clovis. She graduated High School in Grady, New Mexico and attended ENMU. She worked as a Civilian in administration for 31 years at Cannon AFB, Clovis, NM, Williams AFB, Chandler, AZ, Luke AFB, Glendale, AZ. She retired at Cannon AFB March 31, 2008. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Marietta is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Johnny Johnson,
1 son, Johnnie Lynn Johnson, her mother, and father, 2 sisters, B. Coy Fryar of Hereford, TX, and Wilma F. Peaslee of Phoenix, AZ.

Marietta is survived by 1 daughter, Pamela Carpenter of Farwell, 2 sisters; J. Loretta Brock of Phoenix AZ, J. Floydene Roberts of Clovis NM, and 4 grandchildren Jordan Rhea Carpenter of Albuquerque, NM, Conner Rane and his wife Kenzee Davis Carpenter of Waco, TX, Lauren Alexandria of College Station, TX and Nicolas Stone Carpenter of Farwell, TX and 2 great grandchildren, Paxton and Kamryn Applegarth of Clovis, NM and many precious nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Rane Carpenter, Stone Carpenter, Keith Robertson, Clint Cox, John Reeves, and Thom Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers are all her nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Hollene Cemetery Fund via Maurine Thomas, 108 June Avenue, Clovis, NM 88101 and/or to Voice of the Martyrs, 1815 SE Bison Rd.
