Marilyn Mere Edwards was born June 16, 1927 in Friona, TX, the fifth of five children of Gabe and Belva Anderson. She attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a business degree. She was a member of what is now TriDelta Sorority. At that time, it was the DFD Club. Marilyn managed KZOL in Farwell before going to work at Security State Bank in Farwell, TX. She worked at Security State Bank for over 45 years before retiring in 2007 as Chairman of the Board.
One of her greatest joys was her four grandsons. She loved to go to all of their sporting and school events and rarely missed one. She also loved to travel, especially to Europe. One of her favorite cities was Vienna and one of her greatest pleasures was taking her grandsons overseas. She liked to load up her grandchildren and just go
She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church in Clovis, NM for 50 years. She served on the Vestry and on a number of committees.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Gabe and Belva Anderson two sisters: Meredith Anderson and Therese Anderson Tapp and one brother: Gabe Anderson, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and sonin law: Terri and Tom Nichols of Farwell, Texas grandchildren: Logan and Ashley Nichols of Farwell, Texas, Jourdan Nichols of Dallas, Texas, Taylor and Katie Nichols of Ft. Worth, Texas and Tate Nichols of Ft. Worth, Texas: two great grandchildren: Cooper and Millie Nichols of Farwell, Texas one brother and sisterinlaw: Bob and Carrie Anderson of Farwell, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. James Episcopal Church in Clovis, New Mexico with Pastor Alan Brockmeier, officiating. Casket bearers are Logan Nichols, Jourdan Nichols, Taylor Nichols, Tate Nichols, Gabe Anderson IV, Dr. Bill Lewis, WIll Anderson and Greg Actkinson. Honorary casket bearers are Fred Chandler, Harry Johnson, Billy Bob Shirley and Earl Whitten. Interment will follow at Sunset Terrace Memorial Park in Farwell, Texas.
