Obituary - Reverend Marshall C. Fair

Reverend Marshall C. Fair passed from this life into his eternal home on January 8, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born November 11, 1932 in Lingleville, Texas to Clyde Marshall Fair and Lyda May Fair. His early childhood was spent in the Stephensville, TX area, then moved to the oilfield communities of Pyote and Kermit, TX for Junior High School, then completed High School in Monahans, TX.

As a child, Marshall experienced the hardships of the Great Depression and early on felt a calling to serve God and his fellow man. He graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelors of Science in Religion - Biblical and Theological Studies and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary.

It was during his college years that he married Marjorie Nell Norrell, fellow classmate, and they went on to complete their graduate studies together at the seminary. After completion, they moved to the frontiers of Wyoming where they served in several locations. It was in Wyoming where Marshall fell in love with the Rocky Mountains, hunting and fishing and his heart remained there all his life. After several years, he relocated his family to Colorado and then New Mexico where he served in Roswell, Las Cruces, and Clovis.

After the passing of his wife, he reconnected with a longtime college friend, Wyonna Elder and they were married in January 2018. Their short years together provided the opportunity to travel extensively and enjoy the companionship they both longed for.

Reverend Fair is proceeded in death by parents Clyde and May Fair, sister, Laura Ethel Fair, and brother Max Herbert Fair, wife Marjorie Fair and second wife Wyonna Elder Fair. He is survived by one daughter Karen Van Ruiten, and dearly loved son-in-law Jacob Van Ruiten. Four grandchildren, Zach Smith (Chantel Ferguson), Riley Van Ruiten, Joseph Van Ruiten, and Katie Van Ruiten, and two great granddaughters, Kinsley and Kacie Smith.

The family's sincere gratitude goes to the caregivers from Interim Hospice who have provided tender and heartfelt care and concern during a difficult time. These individuals have become cherished friends.

Private family services were held at Lawnhaven Cemetery in Clovis, NM and a family memorial will take place this summer.

"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant.'" -Matthew 25:23
