Martha Elaine Heffington Copeland

Mrs. Martha Elaine Heffington Copeland, 97, of St. Vrain, New Mexico, died Monday, November 12, 2012 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Martha was born December 17, 1914 in Stockard, Texas to John and Kate Heffington. She graduated from Lubbock High School.

Martha married W.N. Dub Copeland on October 20, 1934, in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to the community of St. Vrain, New Mexico in 1945, where they ranched. She was a longtime member of the Melrose Church of Christ.

Martha enjoyed being with her family and cooking for them. She also loved quilting with the ladies at the Melrose Senior Citizen Center. She loved gardening and playing with the grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Linda Boaz, her parents, her brother, Johnny Heffington, her sister, Ettice Bond, her sister, Bess Black and her daughterinlaw, Ovidene Copeland.

She is survived by her three sons: James H. of St. Vrain, Raymon of St. Vrain, and John of Lubbock, Texas. She also has twelve grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family visitation is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Melrose Church of Christ in Melrose, New Mexico. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Melrose Church of Christ in Melrose, New Mexico. Monte Boaz, Billy Copeland and Jason Copeland grandsons will conduct the service. Burial will follow at the Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico.

Pallbearers are: Stan Boaz, Robert Garton, Greg Higgins, Chris Copeland, Marty Lavender, and Matt Sears.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marthas great grandsons: Brent Partain, Spencer Garton, Tanner Higgins, Tate Higgins, Matthew Ware, Luke Ware, Jake Boaz, Kyler Boaz, Kendall Boaz, Mason Ratliff, Caz Copeland, Kelton Copeland, Jayton Morris, Connor Sears and Tate Copeland.
