Marvel Leo Moon passed away at his home in Clovis, NM early Thursday morning, December 10, 2009 at the age of 83. He was born on July 12, 1926 in Forrest, NM to Clyde and Bessie McDonald Moon. brbrHe graduated from Forrest in 1944. He entered the Navy in 1946 and was a yeoman and aid to the captain of the USS Chicago during the occupation of Japan.brHe married Betty Blake on September 4, 1949. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1951 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. They moved to Jordan, NM in 1951 where he farmed and ranched until his health failed and he moved to Clovis, NM in Aug. of 2008.brbrHe worked as manager of the House Co-op and was the Postmaster of the McAlister Post Office from 1962-1989. He served 62 years for the NM Farm Bureau on the Quay County Board and State Farm Bureau Board. He was on the House School Board for 10 years, a leader of the House Methodist Church and taught Sunday School, a member of House Rotary Club and served on the House and County Co-op Boards. He was a big fan of his kid's grandkid's and great grandkid's 4-H, FFA and sports activities. He also enjoyed raising and racing horses.brbrHe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty of the home, Denese Bill Runyan of House, NM, Connie Joel Rowland of Capitan, NM, Pam Moon of Lubbock, TX, and Clyde Rachelle Moon of McAlister, NM. Grandchildren Jacque Brett Valentine, Clint Heather Runyan, Chrystal Matt Nystuen, Josh Ward, Trisha Todd Saulsberry, Taherai Boltz, Blake, Macey, Shaylee, and Dawson Moon. Great grandchildren Koby and Dylan Valentine, Griff and Chaz White, Jaxon Nystuen, Kye and Trip Saulsberry and Treyson and Colten Runyan.brbrServices are scheduled for Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the House United Methodist Church in House, NM, with Rev. Sherman Martin and Rev. Fred Caton officiating. Burial will follow at the Browning Cemetery.brbrPallbearers will be Dawson and Blake Moon, Josh Ward, Clint Runyan, Brett Valentine, Todd Saulsberry, Matt Nystuen, John Griffiths, and Mike Cone. Honorary bearers are Russ Harris, Terry Cone, Librado Terrazas, Bill Noland, Jack Akin, Bob Lee, Bryan Runyan, Jim Henson, Wayne Hunton, Darryl Petrak, Woodrow McDonald, and Jimmie Snipes.
