Mr. Marvin J. Bell, age 78, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Monday, September 12, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico. He was born March 21, 1927 in Blacktower, New Mexico and was the son of the late Barnett Bell and the late Hettie Brownlow Bell.brbrHe married Lena B. Williams on November 7, 1944, in Farwell, Texas. Mr. Bell served in the U.S. Navy and later worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He worked as a carman and later took a job as a traveling car inspector. In 1982, he moved to Topeka as Chief Car Inspector. He retired in 1989 and in 1996 moved to Clovis where he began to try his luck at golf. His new job was to take care of his church. He was a member of Advent Christian Church. He loved to cut grass and water his tree. He coached the National Little League Pirates for four years.brbrHe is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Bell; one daughter, Judy Stone and her husband, David, of Aurora, Illinois; two sons, Robert Bell and his wife, Christine, of Sand Diego, California, and James Bell and his wife, Joyce, of Aurora, Illinois; two sisters, Jo Corbin and her husband, Travis, of Canon City, Colorado, and Jan Pringle and her husband, Bill, of Clovis, New Mexico; one brother, Charles Bell and his wife, Mary, of Clovis, New Mexico; ten grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; brbrHe is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Bell.brbrFuneral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2005 at Steed-Todd Chapel with Rev. Travis Corbin officiating.
