Mary Lou Bowman, 68, of Melrose, New Mexico, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at her home in Melrose. She was born June 12, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Henry Eleanor Gretline Hobbs.

She moved to Melrose in 1992 from Florida City, Florida after Hurricane Andrew. She retired from the Department of Defense as a payroll specialist at Cannon Air Force Base. She was an avid reader and loved to raise Bassett Hounds. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Melrose.

She is survived by her husband Robert Bowman of the home; 2 daughters, Roberta Smith of Lovington, New Mexico and Phyllis Broeder Tracy of Melrose, New Mexico; 1 son, Richard Bowman of Newport News, Virginia; 1 sister, Barbara Hayes of Indianapolis, Indiana; 2 brothers, Kenneth Hobbs of Tennessee and Hank Hobbs of North Carolina; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Melrose with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
