Mary Ellen Lockett Burns

Ellen was bom in Clovis, NM on January 16, 1936. She was reared in Melrose, NM and attended Melrose schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Ellen passed from this life on Friday, January 4, 2013.

Ellen married Harold Burns on September 27, 1974 inClovis and they later settled in Lubbock, TX. Together they enjoyed gardening, working in their yard, family gatherings, and attending and watching Texas Tech sporting events. Over the years she was employed as a dental assistant and an office receptionist for Mason, Nichols, and Warner. She retired from there in 1986.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, Clint and Beulah Lockett, and one brother, Dale Lockett.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three children: Nina Bracken and her husband Wayne of Wolfforth, TX, Darrell Christesson and his wife Diane of Clovis, NM and Tami Christesson of Lubbock, TX. Also, she leaves her small and ever so loving companion dog, Jax.

She has two sisters, Charlyne Dennis and husband Miles of Santa Maria, CA and Sue Hightower and husband Donald of Melrose, NM. Ellen has four grandchildren: Les Leatherwood of Comanche, OK, Lisha Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM, LeeAnn Christesson of Clovis, NM and
Andrew Christesson of Santa Clarita, CA. There are seven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The casket will be closed and remain closed for the memorial service to be held on Monday, January 7 at ll:00 a.m. at the Melrose Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Michael Robertson and staff, Hospice of Lubbock, Dr. Jeremy Brown, Dr. Melanie Oblender, Heidi Hodges, and Chaplain Elizabeth Abraham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 2lSt Street, Lubbock, TX 79410.
