Mary 'Nina' Chavez

Mary 'Nina' Chavez, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Farwell Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mary was born on February 03, 1942 in Tucumcari, NM to Antonio and Fidelia Ulibarri. Mary was raised in Clovis where she also attended school. Mary married John Chavez Sr on July 15th, 1961.

Mary worked at many places over the years. She worked at Sutton's Bakery for many years.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Rafael Ulibarri and Viola Cortez.

Mary is survived by her husband John Chavez Sr. Her Children John Chavez Jr, Gary Chavez (Jane), Angie Sandoval (Rick), and Kenneth Chavez (Teresa). Sisters Judy Vega (Robert) and Cathy Maez (Lewis), brother Felipe Ulibarri (Emma), and sister in law Lillian Ulibarri.

She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and special god son Antonio Maez.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Farwell Care and Rehab center, and a special thanks to our mom's sister Cathy Maez for helping us to care for her for several years.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, April 15, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Steed Todd funeral home in Clovis.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church in Clovis.

Pallbearers: Johnny Sandoval, Jacob Chavez, Edward Maez, and Benjamin Chavez.

Services are under the direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home, 800 E Manana Blvd in Clovis.
