Mary Virginia Ginny Haynes, age 97, of Clovis, New Mexico died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her home in Clovis. She was born on February 22, 1913 to Joseph Henry and Adeline Maratta Bell in Fairfield, Kentucky.
She became a nurse at St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville, Kentucky, where she met her future husband, Dr. Allan L. Haynes, Sr. She was an army nurse 1st Lieutenant in World War II, serving in North Africa and Europe while Dr. Haynes served in the South Pacific. After the war, they married on May 2, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky. They moved to Rochester, Minnesota where Dr. Haynes was on the staff at The Mayo Clinic. They moved to Clovis, New Mexico in November 1951. She was a homemaker, a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Garden Club and P.E.O. She loved flower gardening, especially roses and magnolias. She was considered a second mother by the friends of her children. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Allan L. Haynes, Jr. M.D. Cathy of Lubbock, TX and Stephen H. Haynes, M.D. Debbie of Clovis two daughters, Mimi Haynes of Lubbock, TX and Kathleen HaynesBurns James of Clovis eight grandchildren, Allan L. Haynes, III M.D., E. David Haynes, Melissa Goldschmid, Rachel Snyder, Sarah Coleman, Cade Haynes, Mary Cate Burns and Jay Burns four stepgrandchildren, Adrienne Williams, Rowdy Prather, Katey Chapman and Zak Coleman five greatgrandchildren, Rory Haynes, Mayzie Haynes, Kate Goldschmid, Rowan Snyder and Danny Coleman three stepgreatgrandchildren, Allison Williams, Reese Williams and Alexandria Prather and a very dear friend and caregiver, Margie Lopez of Clovis.
She is preceded in death by her husband Allan L. Haynes, Sr., M.D., F.A.C.S her parents three brothers, Joseph Bell, Henry Bell and Bernard Bell four sisters, Betty Pfeister, Teresa Fortwingler, Lucille Russell, and Blanche Borntraeger.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, November 4, 2010, 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Carlos Chavez and Deacon Mike Rowley officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Pallbearers will be Dr. Allan L. Haynes, III M.D., E. David Haynes, Daniel Coleman, Eli Snyder, Charles Goldschmid, and Rowdy Prather.
