Mary Lee Neff Rogers, age 92, a lifelong resident of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on December 3, 2012. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at SteedTodd Funeral Home in Clovis. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at First United Methodist Church chapel in Clovis with Reverend Keath Baskett officiating. Pall bearers are Dr. Ken Merritt, Alan Isbell, Lynn Blair, Mike McDaniel, Roger Forester and Tommy Merritt. Honorary pall bearers are Dr. Brian Willmon, Dr. Jack Murphy, Roy Woodard, Brent Woodard, G.C. Ross and Judge Stephen Quinn. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clovis.
Mary Lee was born on March 28, 1920 in Clovis to Clyde and Stella Minton Neff. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1937. She received her B.A. degree from New Mexico State University and her Masters Degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She began her teaching career in Hatch, New Mexico in 1941 and taught there for three years. After this, she returned to Clovis and taught for two years at Marshall Junior High School. Her last twentyfive years of teaching were at Clovis High School from 1957 until her retirement in 1982.
She married William C. Collie Rogers on July 20, 1946 in the old Methodist Church on the corner of Seventh Street and Main Street in Clovis. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Clovis, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, P.E.O. Chapter AY, American Legion Auxiliary, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, International and Clovis Retired Classroom Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and having coffee or lunch with her many friends. One of her favorite events was her early Saturday morning breakfast each week with friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky Korenek Steve and Kay Shaw Hal, both of Brownwood, Texas. She loved being a grandmother to six grandchildren and a great grandmother to eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving her is her brother Dr. Sam E. Neff Peggy of Clovis, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
