Maurine Mae Miller May, 97, of Clovis, New Mexico, died February 10, 2008 in Clovis. She was born December 10, 1910 the oldest of 6 children to Bert and Nobie Miller in Eldorado, Oklahoma. Times then were tough however, she would always give credit to the love they had for the Lord and each other that took them through. When Maurine was still a child the family moved to Wellington, Texas where she went to school, met and married Mike May on March 31st 1934.
The devoted couple spent most of their life working together in ministry and evangelism in Seventh Day Adventist churches throughout the southwest. It was during those times that faith, family, and friends become the center of Maurine and Mike's life together. They both truly loved the life of service to which they were chosen.
In the summer of 1973 they retired from active fulltime pastorate in the church and settled here in Clovis. They both continued to minister to family and friends as that was the theme of their lives. Maurine's favorite place was the kitchen baking bread and Mike enjoyed working in his garden which they continued together until the time of Mike's death in 1984.
After that time Maurine carried on with her faith and kept her own home until the summer of 2005 when because of failing health moved to Retirement Ranch here in Clovis where she has remained until the time of her death. It is to all those who knew and loved her that she passes her genuine trust in the Lord. She will be missed
She leaves behind her two sons and their families Richard and Vonda May of Farmington, Phillip and Karen May of Clovis; two granddaughters Kelly McKay of Hobbs, and Ellana Hernandez of Clovis, two grandsons Kristopher May of Hobbs, and Jeffry May of Phoenix; a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; one brother Rudolph Miller of Wichita Falls, TX, and one sister Velma Rose Strong of Deming.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis with Pastor Joshua Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
Memorials may be made to the local Seventh Day Adventist Church, P. O. Box 667, Clovis, New Mexico 88102-0667.
