Maxine Hathorn

Clarice Maxine Hathorn

Maxine was born December 13, 1930 in Rufe, Oklahoma to the home of Vera Ellen
McAfee and William Bryan Craft. She attended Elementary School in Rufe and
graduated from Valliant High School in 1947. She received her Bachelor of
Science Degree in 1950 from Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant,
Oklahoma.

After graduation, she accepted a teaching position at Rosedale High School in
Bellview, NM. It was there that she met Henry E. Hathorn, Jr. They were married January 26, 1951 in Clovis. The couple had 4 children, twins Diane Fris of Hobbs, NM and Gary and his wife Shelly of Farmington, NM, Randy and his wife Mendy of Lubbock, TX and Perri Hathorn of Eunice.

Maxine was always active in the activities of the children having been their scout leader
and 4H Leader for 16 years. She sold Real Estate from 1976 through 1990. She also
worked beside her husband at Clovis Hog Company as well as on the farm. Maxine loved cooking, canning and sewing. She loved spending time with her family and playing 42.

She has 10 grand children and 14 Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, her sister Helen Haley, and one grandson Chad Hathorn.

Funeral Services will be at SteedTodd Chapel on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Greg Martin officiating and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom assisting. Casket bearers are James Priest, Butch Priest, Joel Butler, Kevin Burns, David Steele, Larry Steele, Dale Merworth, Geoffrey Hathorn and Heath Hathorn. Honorary casket bearers are Dr. Alan Haynes, Jr., Dr. Oswald Graham and Dr. Michael Lehman. Interment will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Clovis, New Mexico.
