Melvin Fielden, 84, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Heart Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He was born November 8, 1924, in Diggins, Missouri, to Floyd Dollie Fielden.
Upon completion of high school Mr. Fielden chose to become an airplane mechanic for Civil Service. He married Mildred McKinney July 24, 1943, in La Junta, Colorado. He was drafted into the U. S. Air Force during World War II. After his discharge from the Air Force, he again chose to work in Civil Service as an Airplane Engine Manager. He retired in 1980. Above everything, he enjoyed his family and friends. In addition, he enjoyed carpentry work collecting model cars.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Fielden of the home in Clovis; 2 daughters, Melvina Fielden and Melinda Hughes Buddy all of Clovis; 5 grandchildren, Michael Kuhn, Michelle Vaughn, Autumn Jule Hughes, Dustin Hughes and Ashleigh Hughes all of Clovis; 3 great grandchildren, Makayla Balch, Tristyn Balch Tyrah Vaughn all of Clovis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Steed-Todd Chapel with Pastor Dave Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
