Melvin Chester Walker age 85, of San Angelo, Texas formally of Clovis, NM passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at Park Plaza Nursing Home in San Angelo, Texas. He was born July 29, 1927 in House, New Mexico to Arthur and Edna Johnson Walker. Melvin was a longtime Clovis resident where he worked for Rural Electric Association retiring after 44 years of service. He started as a ground man and retired as a manager. He left for only one year serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He loved music and played the violin. He married Inita June Stoner, October 30, 1948 in San Jon, NM she preceded him in death June 12, 1980. He remarried Julia Snipes who preceded him in death August 22, 1996, then remarried Jodie Hill in 1999 in Clovis, New Mexico.

He is survived by his wife Jodie Hill Walker of San Angelo, Texas one daughter Bonna Walker of Albuquerque, New Mexico two sons Arthur Walker and Chuck Nancy Walker all of Albuquerque, New Mexico one step daughter Julie Green of San Angelo, Texas three grandchildren Whitney Loveland, Jon Walker, and Jody Walker one step grandson Tyler Chelsea Green of San Angelo, Texas one great granddaughter Madison Loveland. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and his second wife.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico. The family will receive family and friends on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 58 at SteedTodd Funeral Home.
