Mervin Samuel Gentry, Marty to all who knew him, was born on June 19, 1962 to Mervin Thomas and Opal Marie McIntyre Gentry. Marty passed away on July 7, 2013 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Marty worked at the Curry County Detention Center in both the juvenile and adult section during the past twentyfive years.
He is survived by his sisters: Gloria and her husband Gene Vanetta of Farmers Branch, TX, Penny and her husband John Clark of Abilene, TX, April Gentry of Clovis, NM, Patsy and her husband Alex Romero of Hereford, AZ his nieces and nephews: John Clark and his wife Brittany and their son Gabriel, all of Altus, Oklahoma, Debra Clark of Sumter, SC, Cheyenne Gentry of Clovis, NM, Sarah Clark of Abilene, TX and Vincente Romero and Colin Romero both of Hereford, AZ. He is also survived by one aunt, Bessie D. Horan, one uncle, Johnny Hall and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mervin T. Gentry, his mother Opal M. Gentry, one brother Daniel D. Gentry and one sister, Betz Ensign.
Memorial services are at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, New Mexico with Glenda Horner officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis, New Mexico.
