Mildred Leona Baker, age 95, passed away June 23, 2018 at Home Place Hospice in Tyler, TX.
Mildred was born October 27, 1922 in Bristow, OK. Her parents were C.E. "Bud" Thomas and Leona Tate Thomas. The family moved to Clovis, NM when Mildred was in grade school. Mildred accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized on May 15, 1932 and became a member of First Baptist Church of Clovis at that time. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1939 and married Archie Baker in December of 1940. They lived in the Ranchvale community where Mildred was active in the Ranchvale Baptist Church and the Curry County Extension Club. From 1950-1960 she worked at Cannon Air Force Base at the base supply office. Mildred taught Sunday School for over 25 years. She was active in the Pilot Club of Clovis for many years. In 2013 she moved to Alba, TX to be near family and became a member of First Baptist Church of Alba.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Archie; sons Darrell Baker and Dennis Baker; son-in-law Keith Blair; sisters Lucille Matlock and Clodie Armstrong Hurley and Rosalie Cook White. She is survived by her daughter Darla Blair; grandchildren Dana (Ken) Donahue, Del (Darla) Blair, Dwayne (Kim) Baker, Cindy (Jackie) Baker and Sherry Chaparro; twelve great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Wilson Bartley Funeral Home in Alba on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Parkland Baptist Church, Clovis, NM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Cemetery, Clovis, NM following services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to First Baptist Church Alba Building Fund or New Mexico Baptist Children's Home, Portales, NM.
