Mildred Finley was born in Childress, Texas on September 14, 1917. She was 95 years of age. She was raised in Childress and then moved to Amarillo where she met her husband Hershel Finley. They were married Sept. 21, 1941 in Clovis, New Mexico. Shortly after their marriage, she worked as a beautician. After Hershel started working for the Railroad they moved to Tucumcari where they lived for 35 years. During these years they raised their two daughters Lola and Linda. They moved to Clovis in 2000 when Hershel was in bad health. Mildred has lived in Senior Resident Center for 4 years.
She is survived by two daughters: Lola Stockton Charles of Clovis, New Mexico and Linda Simmons of Roby, Texas four grandchildren: Rodney Stockton, Stacy Brooks, Kevin Simmons and Kyle Baum. She also has five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel her parents: Luther and Minnie Moore two sisters, a brother and her son n law: Roy Simmons.
Mildred was a person who loved people. She was a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary and Senior Citizens Center in Canyon. She loved being in the Glory Choir at Central Baptist Church in Clovis where she was a member. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star.
Services will be 10:00 am on Saturday, July13, 2013 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis with Pastor Alan McAlister officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 pm CDT at Memory Gardens in Amarillo, Texas with Rev. Gayle Bowen officiating. Casket bearers are Rodney Stockton, Jeff Brooks, Kevin Simmons and Kyle Baum.
