Mildred Harris

alignjustify Millie Harris, 88, longtime resident of Clovis, New Mexico left us on July 20, 2007. Millie wishes to thank all of her extended family and friends in Clovis for all their visits, telephone calls, and gifts while at Laurel Plains Healthcare. Millie would also like to thank the staff and nurses at the Laurel Plains for taking such good care of her. She wishes to thank Gwen Limmer with Hospice of the Sandias for her love and care.

alignjustify Millie was born Mildred Inez Buchanan on August 22,1918 in Pooleville, Texas to Henry and Myrtle Buchanan. She was reared and attended school in Chickasha, Oklahoma. For most of her life, she was a homemaker who just happened to be a wonderful cook. Millie loved people and had a lot of good friends. She was always helping people, so in her later years she put that to work as Coordinator for the Elderly. She spent much of her time taking care of the elderly in Clovis. She retired in August 2000 at the age of 82.

alignjustify Sadly, Millie was preceded in death by her baby great grandson, Austin Gabriel Wilson, on March 17, 2006, and granddaughter Susan Elizabeth Peery on August 18, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Walker in 1949, and her husband, John T. Harris Sr. USAF retired in 1992.

alignjustify Millie is survived by her four children and their families; Beverly Gamble and husband Bert of Houston, TX, Milton Reese Peery and wife Norma of Klamuth Falls, OR, Ferris Eugene Peery and wife Arlene of Castle Rock, CO, and John T. Harris Jr. of Clovis, NM. Millie has seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Millie is also survived by one brother, Ralph Taylor Buchanan and his family of Houston, TX.

alignjustify In celebration of Millies life a memorial service will be held at Steed-Todd Chapel on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 10:00 A. M. with Rev. Margot Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Millies name to Laurel Plains Healthcare, 1400 W. 21st St., Clovis, NM 88101 or Hospice of the Sandias.
