Modesto Aragon

Jose Modesto Francisco Aragon, age 84, of Clovis, New Mexico died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

Mr. Aragon was born October 10, 1927 in Yeso, NM to Zenon and Floripa Aragon and was Christened in Santa Rosa, NM. He grew up in Vaughn, NM where his favorite past time was horse breaking and some bull riding. Modesto left Vaughn, NM in 1947 to come to Clovis where he worked as a cement form setter and finisher and later working for the City of Clovis Sanitation Department until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Modesto enjoyed playing his accordion, working with wood, visiting family and friends where he was still called by his nickname Lash La Rue.

Modesto is survived by one son, Francisco Modesto Aragon and his wife Prisilla of Pine Bluff, Arkansas one daughter, Lori Ann Martinez and her husband Robert, Jr. formerly of Alamogordo, New Mexico three brothers, Albino Aragon and his wife Amelia of Clovis, New Mexico, Jose Aragon, also of Clovis, New Mexico, and Zenon Aragon, Jr. and his wife Ida of Olathe, Kansas four sisters, Cipriana Woollis of Wichita Falls, Texas, Lucilla Nelson of Clovis, New Mexico, Teresa Anaya and her husband George, and Lenora Zarbaugh and her husband Steve, both of San Antonio, Texas Faithful nieces, Olympia Chino and Louisa Maestas four grandchildren, Linda Aragon, Eric Aragon, Joseph Martinez, and Angelo special friends, Mary Jane Bunce and Norma Ruiz and her husband Tony.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Matilda Tillie Marez, Rebecca Ruby AragonGarcia, Cornelia Gonzales, Rosita Romero, and one brother Victorino Aragon.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Carlos Chavez, officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
