Molina Nieves

Molina Worthington Mollye Nieves died on Friday, February 4, 2011, at a nursing home in San Angelo, Texas.

Mrs. Nieves was born October 6, 1920, in Clovis, New Mexico to Robert Bernard Worthington and Mary Elizabeth Dickens Worthington. She was a graduate of Clovis High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University where she attained a minor in Art, and then pursued subjects she found of interest, such as history, literature and computer science.

She was married to Reuben E. Nieves in 1941 and, except for one year during WWII and three years while her husband studied law at the University of Oklahoma, she resided in Clovis. In 1991, she and her husband moved to San Angelo, TX. She was a member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo and friend and supporter of the Freedom Fellowship.

In addition to her role as a wife and mother, she was active in the PTA, Girl Scout leadership, and other civic and cultural activities. She was a charter member and later President of the Clovis Junior Womans Club and served many years on the Board of the Clovis Community College Association and with the New Mexico Outdoor Drama Association. She was part owner of TAGRS, a gift shop in Clovis, a member of Paintn Place Art Group, and was a charter member of the Art Selection Committee at Clovis Community College. And with her husband, she served on the Eastern New Mexico University Symphony Board. After moving to San Angelo, TX in 1991, she began researching the genealogy of both her family and that of her husband and spent many hours compiling Family Tree books for more than 60 family members. And for many years along with her daughter, Michael Koschak, she delivered meals for the elderly.

She is survived by one soninlaw, Dr. Ramsey Koschak of San Angelo, Texas five grandchildren, Michelle Latson Greg of Austin, TX, Jason Nieves and Tara NievesPitcher Steve of Baton Rouge, LA, Jordan Koschak Maedgen Brody of Dallas, TX, and Seth Koschak of Dallas, TX. seven great grandchildren, Britton and Victoria Furlow, Dakota Enzo and Major Austin Pitcher of Baton Rouge, LA, Cade Nieves of Lake Charles, LA, Chase and Caitlyn Latson of Austin, TX, and Carter James and Charlotte Michael Maedgen of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Richard Randolph Nieves. Also preceding her in death were her parents and five brothers, Aubry, Ed, Robert, Homer, and Lester Ray Worthington, and two sisters, Eva Worthington Griggs and Esther Faye Worthington. Her daughter, Dr. Michael Koschak, passed away shortly after Mollye passed.
