Norma Gray

March 5, 1924 — December 12, 2014

At age 90, Norma went to be with her Lord on December 12, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born at home near Malcom, Iowa. It was a cold rainy day on March 5, 1924, when her dad hooked up the horses to the wagon and drove 3 miles to Malcom 3 different times to fetch the doctor. Norma graduated from Farrah High School in 1942 and proceeded to enlist in the medical corp of the WAVES in 1944. Norma was honorably discharged from the service in 1947.

She married Harry Eugene Gray of Amarillo, Texas on February 8, 1946, in Mare Island, California where they both were stationed. They returned to Amarillo, Texas for 5 years, where she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until moving to Clovis, New Mexico, in 1952, where they owned and operated Clovis Oil Company for 30 years. They were married for 63 years before Harry passed away in 2009.

She was very active in bridge clubs and church activities at Kingswood United Methodist Church where she and Harry were charter members. They later transferred their membership to First Methodist Church in Clovis. She was a Member of PEO Chapter G where she was recognized as a Golden Girl for 50 years of service.

She is survived by one daughter and husband, Cindy and Charles Wall of Lubbock, Texas two sons, Robert Gray and wife, Rhonda of Holly Springs, North Carolina and David Gray and wife, Katreisa of Amarillo, Texas six grandchildren, Ann and Ryan Trammell, Jason Wall, Aaron Gray, Sara Guastaferro, Courtney Carter, and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Services will be at Steed Todd Chapel in Clovis, New Mexico, Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Steve Watkins will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
