Olga Ruth McCasland Dickie Mo was born June 5, 1918 and passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 22, 2011 at the age of 93. Although the family and loved ones of Olga Ruth McCasland Dickie have suffered a great loss they are thankful she now rejoins the loved ones who passed before her knowing they will rejoice in her presence in heaven as much as her loved ones will miss her here. Olga was born in Trinidad, CO and had nine brothers and sisters. In 1937, she married the late Debs McCasland and they subsequently moved to Grady, NM where they successfully raised their three children, wheat and cattle. During their time in Grady, they were vital members of the community, school, Methodist church and many clubs and organizations. Olga often joked that while raising her three children, Nancy Stanfield Ferguson of Arlington, TX, David McCasland of Tucumcarri, NM and Danny McCasland of Phoenix, AZ, she was asked to serve as a school mom every year for over eighteen years and during that time made thousands of tuna fish sandwiches. Everyone always wanted Olga to be a part of their group because she was like no other. After the children moved away she learned to paint and became a respected artist. Eventually, she and Debs moved to Clovis where they were active in the Democratic Party and enjoyed playing bridge, golf and their membership at the Colonial Country Club until his death. She later found love a second time and married Don Dickie of Aguilar, CO. They moved to Albuquerque and after his passing she moved to Phoenix, AZ.
Olga was a classy lady who loved and was loved by everyone she met. She will be greatly missed. She had a way of making everyone feel special. She was always quick with a meaningful compliment, was hard working and fun loving. If you walked in her door the first thing she asked was, Honey, can I fix you something and those who took her up on the offer were always glad they did. She doted on her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren keeping a secret stash of candy for them until the day she died. Each generation has their, She always had gumdrops, chocolate kisses, suckers just for me. memory.
She is survived by, her three children and their spouses: Nancy and Pat Ferguson, David and Jonny McCasland and Danny and Ozie McCasland. Along with nine grandchildren: Jana Stanfield, Julie Robertson Strickland, Doug Stanfield, Franklin, Randy, Mark, Troy and Terry McCasland and Ashlee Murphy, fifteen greatgrandchildren: Chance and Cade Robertson, Skylee Stanfield, Jennifer Sims, Chris, Sara, Melanie, Rebecca, Ryan, Katie, Tyler, Trevor and Kyle McCasland, Cailyn and Colin Murphy and two greatgreatgrandchildren: Ella Robertson and Colby McCasland, and Justin and Amber McCasland.
