Opal Head

Opal "Naomi" Head, age 80, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed from this life, on Saturday, March 21, 2015. She was born on August 15, 1934 to the late, James Alvis McGee and Opal November McGee in Alamosa, Colorado. On January 27, 1952 she married the love of her life, F.J. Head, in Alamosa, Colorado.

Naomi loved writing short stories and illustrating children's story books, she volunteered much of her time at James Bickley Elementary as a mentor, teaching children to read. She also served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts for many years. Naomi loved horses, and enjoyed painting. She was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clovis.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband F.J. Head of the home; children: Sharon and husband Syd Hunter of Arvada, Colorado; Jack Head of Alamogordo, NM; James and wife Susie Head of Rio Rancho, NM; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; one brother, Buck McGee and three sisters, Babe Webber, Dolly Jackson, and Peggy Gafford.

Naomi is preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, Jennifer Tibbits and Jason Head; four brothers, and two sisters.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, at Steed Todd Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. - Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clovis, NM. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
