Opal Potts

Opal F. Potts, age 98, of Lubbock, Texas passed away January 7, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born on February 28, 1913 in Hollene, New Mexico to J.M. and Shannie Elnora Brown Metcalf. She married Roy M. Potts July 15, 1932 in Hollene, New Mexico. Opal was a former longtime Curry County resident who moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1994 to live with her daughter. She was a member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. She loved to paint watercolors and was a very competitive 42 Player. Opal loved her family, friends and her church family and cherished spending time with them.

She is survived by two daughters: Gayle Gray of Lubbock, Texas and Betty Bill Day of Dalhart, Texas one son Walter M. Lois Potts of Hollene, New Mexico six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter two sisters: Allie Collo of Dove Canyon, California and Edith Turner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters: Eula Lee Williams, Gladys Holmburg and Hazel Barton.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Hollene Cemetery with Pastor Jim Peabody officiating.
