Oscar Mack Toliver was born on August 1, 1934 in Clovis, New Mexico to M.F. Mack and Glenna Sweat Toliver. Dr. Landcaster delivered him and named him. Dr. Landcaster had a horse named Oscar and named him Oscar. Dr. Landcaster had a friend named Mac Stanton, who was a local newspaper man. He was named after him as well.

Oscar lived in Floyd, NM on the family homestead land they homesteaded 1906. He lived in Floyd until he was twelve years old. The family moved to Tatum, NM and opened up a mercantile store, C and T Mercantile. His mother was a teacher in the Tatum schools for many years. He graduated from Tatum High School in 1952. He was involved in sports, band and calf roping. Oscar then graduated from ENMU in 1956. He received a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Business. He joined the National Guard while he was still attending college. From 1956 through 1958 he served in the United States Army as a Staff Sgt. He was one of two people selected to go to South Korea as an Account Specialist. He was a paymaster for troops stationed in South Korea.

He married Carolyn Aldridge in August 27, 1959 in Lubbock, TX. They lived in various places in the state of New Mexico for his jobs in finance. They came to Clovis in May of 1960. Oscar went to work for Citizens Bank in 1966 and he retired from Citizens Bank in 1999. Oscar loved ranching, cattle and horses. He also loved to travel, to play golf and sitting on the front porch watching the humming birds and squirrels.

Oscar passed away on February 10, 2013 at Baptist St. Anthonys Hospital in Amarillo, TX.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Toliver of the home in Clovis, NM one son: Eddie Toliver of Clovis, NM one daughter: Cyndie Sessions of Amarillo, TX one grandson: Jobe Toliver of Clovis, NM sister in law and brother in law: Becky and Reggie Trout of Brownfield, TX cousins: Betty Greathouse of Portales, NM, Lawanda Calton of Portales, NM, Jan and Rick Purvis of Montgomery, TX, Bob and Sheryl Borden of Portales, NM, Marilyn and Sam Rigsby of Portales, NM and Shirley Toliver of Farmington, NM second cousins: Dan Greathouse and Ross Greathouse, both of Portales, NM nieces and nephews: Shantel and Kevin Keune of Timberon, NM, Michelle and Wayne Wilson of Lamesa, TX, Segelle and Thomas Bryan of Baird, TX and Keven and Crystal Bowman of Mayhill, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents: M.F. Mack and Glenna Toliver, his in laws: J.E. Ed and Darleen Aldridge one son in law: MacArthur Sessions two cousins: State Representative Richard Toliver and Jack Greathouse.

Funeral Services are at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, New Mexico with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico. Pall bearers are Kevin Keune, Keven Bowman, Thomas Bryan, Dan Greathouse, Curtis Ford and Bob Borden. Honorary pall bearers are Kent Carruthers, Ross Greathouse, Corky Kamradt and Clay Wilson.
