Otis Copeland

Otis R. Copeland, 74, of Logan, New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home. He was born in Dumas, Texas on August 17, 1942 to Jack and Mary Alice Copeland.

Otis lived his life in eastern New Mexico. He was raised on the Copeland family ranch in Amistad. He moved to Clovis in his late teens where he met and married his wife Barbara, raised three sons, Wayne, Scott, and Ote Russell. Otis also had a lifetime career in the construction industry and owned/operated "Otis Copeland Construction Company". He and Barbara eventually retired to Logan.
Otis was a man who wanted to be outside. He had a lifetime passion for "playing" outdoors in activities like hunting, fishing and competition shooting. He was a lifetime member in groups like the National Rifle Association and the North American Fishing Club. While his sons were growing up he was also involved in their activities such as 4-H and the Future Farmers of America.

Otis is survived by his wife Barbara Copeland, sons Scott and Ote Russell Copeland, granddaughter Lexus Copeland, brothers Clifford and Ernest Copeland and sister Patricia Ritch.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary Alice Copeland, and son Wayne Copeland.

Crematory arrangements have been entrusted to Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Logan, NM at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 13, 2017 with Rev. Stephen Kulback and Ernest Copeland officiating.
