Closed casket services for Carroll Huggins age 70, of Amarillo, Texas formally of Clovis, New Mexico will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Tennefos officiating. Cremation will take place following services and a private burial will be held at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Carroll was born October 31, 1942 in Muleshoe, Texas to Otis and Juanita Pugh Huggins. Carrol excelled in all sports in high school and received a scholarship to Eastern New Mexico University for football after graduating from Farwell High School in 1960. He Joined the United States Marine Corp and rose to the rank of Sargent while serving three tours of duty in Vietnam from 19601964 on the U.S.S. Hancock. Carroll married Alice Marie Ramm on July 18, 1965 in Lariat, TX. After he was honorably discharged from the United States Marines, he came to Clovis and went to work for ENMR and worked as a Telephone Lineman. He had a heart transplant in 1996 and enjoyed life for seventeen years after his transplant. Carroll enjoyed fishing, camping, football, track, baseball, basketball and Nascar. While in Clovis, he was a member of the VFW Post 3280 and Marine Corp League of Clovis.

Carroll is survived by his son Dennis Huggins of Clovis, NM and his daughter Staci Smith of Portales, NM his Mom as she was called, Carol Dean Huggins of Farwell, TX two brothers Clive Huggins of Cedar Crest, NM and Roy Dunn of Farwell, TX one sister Donna Cummings of Lubbock, TX one grandson Tanner Huggins of Riverton, Utah one granddaughter Taylor Smith of Portales, NM.

He is preceded in death by his Mother in 1954, Father 1977, Brother 1968, and his Wife in 2005.
