Pat Hill

Patrick Pat Hill, died Saturday January 1, 2011 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM. He was born in Donoya, Oklahoma on July 11, 1925. He was raised in the Oklahoma Oil Fields. He went to grade school at Donoya and Fairfax. He attended high school at Fairfax, Chouteau, and Wewoka, Oklahoma and Hartman,Arkansas. They were living in Chouteau, when his mother died in 1941. He was 16 years old. In 1942 he went to live with his Aunt Murel and Uncle Zelner Gardner his Dads sister near Arkansas to help them out because they had been in a serious car accident. While there he went to high school in Hartman, Arkansas. From there he went to live with his Aunt Molly and Uncle Kirk Hill his mothers sister in Wewoka, Oklahoma where he finished high school.

He was drafted into the Marines just a few months before he finished high school. He received his diploma while in the Marine Corp. at age of 18 years. His basic training was in San Diego. From there he was sent to Hawaii, then on to Tinian, a small pacific island not far from Japan. After that he was sent to Okenawa. He made the rank of Corporal. When the war was over he went back to San Diego and then to Hastings, Nebraska. On February 3, 1946 he retired from the service.
He then moved to Clovis and started working part time with the railroad in 1949, later he was employed full time and retired in 1982 after 36 years of service due to a stroke. While working part time he would dabble in odd jobs such as carpentry, cab driving and anything else that came his way. On January 11, 1949, Patrick married Evelyn Stephens and they had two children Connie Mae and Jimmy Ray. Evelyn preceded Patrick, in death in October of 1974 and Jim on March 18, 1993 at the age of 40. He married Billie Ruth Price on May 28, 1976.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Billie Ruth of 34 years a daughter, Connie Hill two step children, Rodney Porter and Vicki Marchman four grandchildren, Roddy and Cory Porter, Jada Bryant and Dayla Hosaka six great grandchildren, Dylan and Rachel Porter, Alley and Anthony Bryant, Kaven Hosaka, and Robin Porter two sistersinlaw, Norma Patterson and Willie Betts and numerous other loved ones.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Clovis. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Casket Bearers will be Rodney Porter, Rod Porter, Cory Porter, Jacky Don Marchman, Mark Duffy, and Bill Melton. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Charles Butler, Dick Melton, Darrell Stevens, and Dick Dorun.
