alignjustify Paul T. Long was born on January 2, 1927 to Benjamin T. and Zela Maye White Long. He was born in Plainview, TX and then raised in the Floyd, NM area. He went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2007.
alignjustify He was a veteran of WW II where he served in the military police company stationed in Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He served as a rifle expert. He later served in Germany were he received an Army occupation ribbon and a victory ribbon. While serving in Germany as a military police guard he helped to transport 3,000 German prisoners with no escapes. This was the first time this had ever been done in US armed forces history. He later served in Naples, Italy where he met and married Anna DeLuca on September 23, 1946.
alignjustify After the war he made a career out of laying tile for McDaniel's and Walters. His lifetime passion was his family and his horses. His happiest days were spent taking care of his cattle and riding his horses.
alignjustify He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Anna Long, one daughter Sylvia Maye Rugg, 4 sisters Susan Grace Long, Bennie May McKay, Bernice Prewitt, and Christine Hardisty and mother Zela Maye Long and father Benjamin T. Long.
alignjustify Survived by one son Andy Pennie Long of Fredericksburg, VA, one daughter Paula Gary Lockmiller of Clovis, NM, 4 granddaughters: Sherry Kip DeFoor of Clovis, NM, Kayla Alex Cabello of Clovis, NM, Andrea Darek Tomgenovich of Killeen, TX, and Angela Jason Valdez of Great Falls, Mt., 2 grandsons: Paul R. Rugg of St. Paul, Mn and Justin L. Lockmiller of Clovis, NM., 1 Step grandson: Eddie Christy Pierce of Killeen, TX , 5 Great grandchildren: Kolter and Kylin DeFoor of Clovis, NM, Caleb and Madison Tomenovich of Killeen, TX, and Isabella Valdez of Great Falls, Mt. One brother Rev R.A. Long of Los Lunas, NM, one sister Robbie Wicker of Clovis, NM, lifetime friend Aida Poe of Ranchvale, NM, numerous nieces and nephews and caretaker Harley Rasco of Clovis, NM.
alignjustify The family will be at 913 W. Yucca. Donations can be made to your favorite charity.
alignjustify Pallbearers will be Monte Graham, Wes Graham, Jake Graham, Kolter DeFoor, Justin Lockmiller and Alex Cabello.
alignjustify Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Highland Baptist Church in Clovis with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
