Peggy Hughes

Peggy "Joyce" Hughes was born on June 21, 1941 to Herman and Mary Rierson in Clovis, New Mexico. She went home to be with Jesus on February 19, 2025. On November 14, 1963, she married George Hughes, and they spent 55 years together until his death.

She was a member of Forrest Heights Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of TOPS.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband George; her parents, Herman and Mary Rierson; a sister, Barbara Beal; a brother, Jessier Herman Rierson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Evelyn Hughes; brother-in-law, Donald Cain; nephews, Michael and Darren Thomas, Danny Beal and numerous loved ones.

Those left to cherish Joyce's memory are her children, Phillip (Linda) Hughes of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Bobby (Lisa) Hughes of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Dennis Hughes of Clovis, New Mexico, and Larry (Kim) Hughes of Clovis, New Mexico.

Joyce was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Bryce Harrison, Byron Hughes, Brandon Hughes, Bradley Hughes, Cody Hughes and Kyle Hughes.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters; Joy Hughes, Rebecca Hughes, Rachel Hughes, Amy Hughes, Noelka Hughes, Michelle Hughes, Carly Harrison, Nissa Hughes, Kika Nieta, Heather Price; her great-grandsons, and great-granddaughters.

Family would like for contributions to be made in Joyce's honor to Lighthouse Mission in Clovis, New Mexico.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 5-7pm at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at Steed-Todd Funeral Home the following day starting at 2:00pm with burial following at Hollene Cemetery in Hollene, New Mexico.
