Peggy Rikel

Peggy Jean Rikel, 80, passed away on May 20, 2016, in Clovis, New Mexico.
Celebration services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at Central Baptist Church with Senior Pastor Alan McAlister officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home and Crematory.
Peggy was born in Paducah, Kentucky, to Henry and Hazel Lockett on July 9, 1935. She went to Reidland High School in Paducah. She married George Elton Rikel on September 2, 1962, in Paducah.
Peggy worked for the New Mexico Game and Fish for three years before starting her family. As a devoted mother she spent the rest of her life serving her family.
Her passion for cooking and hosting friends and family was second to none. That same passion for life also flowed over to her church family at Calvary Baptist Church in Raton, New Mexico.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Hazel Lockett and her brother Tommy Lockett, all from Paducah.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Elton Rikel of Clovis, New Mexico; three sons: Randy and Joni Rikel of Canyon, Texas, Brad and Melody Rikel of Clovis, New Mexico, and Greg and Barbara Rikel of Woodstock, Georgia; sisters: Pat Bennett of Paducah and Nancy Chick of Belen, New Mexico; eight grandchildren: Landon, Paige, Claire, Lawton, Harrison, Chloe, Katelyn and Ryan; one great-grandson, Bryton.
The family of Peggy wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to her caregivers Samantha Johnson and Tina Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home in Portales, NM, in memory of Peggy.
