Penny Lane Casada, age 50, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, May 16, 2015. She was born February 26, 1965 in Hackensack, New Jersey. Her parents were John Byron and Bonnie Cooper Casada.
Penny grew up in a large loving family with numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. During her early childhood years her father was a pilot in the US Air Force, following his retirement the family moved to Clovis, New Mexico where most of her mothers family lived. Penny was great at gymnastics and was a vivacious on-the-go person. Following graduation from Clovis High School, she attended Clovis Community College. She had a successful working career as a medical scheduler and manager for a number of doctor groups and hospitals in Las Vegas, Seattle, and Phoenix. In all of her endeavors, Penny was known for her work ethic. In 2006, Penny moved back to Clovis to take care of her ailing mother. She decided to stay in Clovis following the death of her mother.
She is survived by Cathy Watkins, her long time caregiver and cousin; best friend Dana Hill; her brother Dr. John H. Casada, and his wife Carrie and daughter Carolyn of Abilene, Texas. Other surviving family members are her aunt and uncle, Betty and Joe Salvucci, aunt Lucy Casada and Ed Mansfield and his wife June along with numerous cousins and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents John and Polly Casada, Edgar and Rubye Cooper, and by several aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial at 11:00 a.m. in the Steed-Todd Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
