Perlie Geries

September 2, 1910 — May 23, 2007

alignjustify Perlie Geries was the ninth child born to Albert and Wilimeno Ramm on their farm and ranch in Copperas Cove, Texas, September 2, 1910. The Ramms moved their family to West Camp, Texas in 1923 where Perlie eventually met Dick Geries. On December 22, 1929, Perlie married Dick Geries in Clovis, N.M. They then settled in Lariat, Texas where they proceeded to run a farm and raise a family of four boys in the midst of all the hardships brought on by the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. Despite the extreme difficulties forced on her by time and place, through her perseverance, intelligence, and courage, she saw her four boys through to adulthood, and became the matriarch of a large and loving family that is and always will be a legacy that filled her with love and happiness. Her affection and thoughtfulness knew no bounds and she brought joy to all of her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

alignjustify She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Farwell, Texas where she taught Sunday School, served on the kitchen committee for years, read all the books in the library, and served as a devout and faithful member her entire life. In addition to the time she devoted to her church and family, Perlie found time to become an accomplished painter, many of her works are displayed proudly and prominently in the homes of her family, to crochet countless pieces that will always be treasured by her family, to write wonderful letters to family and friends, and to cook some of the best Thanksgiving and Christmas meals ever served. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

alignjustify Perlie was preceded in death by her husband Dick, son Don, daughter-in-law Linda, granddaughter Tina, and her four brothers and sisters.

alignjustify She is survived by her children, Herman and Alta of Farwell, Texas; Bob and Charlene of Clovis, New Mexico; Dickie and Glenda of Uvalde, Texas; Nine grand children; eighteen great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.

alignjustify Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am CDT at the First Baptist Church in Farwell, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the kitchen committee or the library fund at the First Baptist Church in Farwell.
