Pierrette Hungerford

Pierrette M. Thiriot Hungerford, 72, passed away in her sleep in Clovis on December 9, 2012. She was born on February 13, 1940 in Tunis, Tunisia to Pierre and Louise Thiriot. After World War ll at the age of 5 she and her family moved to Nancy, France. At the age of 19 she met and married her husband Paul F. Hungerford deceased on February 6, 1960, an Airman with the United States Air Force who was stationed overseas. The marriage had to be preapproved by Pope John XXIII, the Church, the American Embassy and the United States Air Force. They resided in France, California, the Azores and came to New Mexico in 1964. Pierrette first came to the United States in 1960 and learned English through comic books and television and even after being state side for 52 years she maintained her heavy French accent.

Pierrette was a homemaker and animal lover. Together with Paul, they owned and operated Gypsys Kanine Haven dog kennel at Pleasant Hill, NM for numerous years. Over the years she has had several assortments of birds, a skunk, a bear, a raccoon, a baby lion and a spider monkey. She took in many animals and people with a helping hand and open heart. She was outgoing and loving to all.

Pierrette was preceded in death by her parents: Pierre and Louise her husband: Paul F. Hungerford two brothers: Renee and Jacques one sister: Monique and one grandson: Brandon.
She is survived by her son Dennis Marie Hungerford of Rosamond, CA and three daughters, all of Clovis: Sandra Dean Falks, Corinna John Montano and Carrina Hungerford. Six grandchildren: Frisco Kara and Kelani Falks, Tawny and Devon Montano, Dexter and Kourtney Correll and one great granddaughter: Story Hurley.

She will be greatly missed Je t aime Memere and Bonne nuit

Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on December 26, 2012 at Steed Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.
