Priscilla Jane Hogg, age 80, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at her home in Clovis, New Mexico. She was born to John Burrows and Mae Belle Pope on August 15, 1930 in Morrisville, Vermont. She lived in the family home at Fairwood Farm, attended Peoples Academy and was chosen in 1949 to attend Girls State as a Senator in Montpelier, the capital of Vermont. She was a Girl Scout Assistant Leader in 1948 to graduation in 1950.

Priscilla was a member of Puffer Methodist Church where she attended Sunday School, sang in the choir, and attended Sunday evening senior youth fellowship. She was an assistant to the Junior Youth Fellowship and helped with Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Hogg attended various summer church camps, and while in college, was a counselor in two camps. She attended Schauffler College of Religious Education and Social Work from 1950 to 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked for the Kansas Congregational Conference as a student summer service worker, helping with Sunday Schools, youth groups, and Vacation Bible Schools in various towns in the summer of 1951.

On August 29, 1953, Priscilla married Don J. Hogg of Phoenix, Arizona, in Puffer Methodist Church in Morrisville, Vermont. MSgt. Hogg retired in 1971 from U.S.A.F. at Cannon AFB. They had a home in Clovis where Mrs. Hogg was a teachers aide for four years at La Casita Elementary, and later substituted for kindergarten, elementary, junior high and high school. She was also a substitute at Tsi Bet Tai Junior High on the Navajo Reservation at Shiprock, NM.

Mrs. Hogg was a member of the Clovis Gem and Mineral Society, Inc. from June 1969 until the present, and took part in many club shows. She held every office in the club, and in 1990 received first place in Education through Sharing from the Rocky Mountain Federation of Gem and Minerals Societies. She tied for second place in the American Federation of Gem and Mineral Society, and gave talks and showed displays of gems and minerals in Clovis, Melrose and Lovington, NM schools.

Mrs. Hogg was a member of Parkland Baptist Church where she served as Librarian for 11 years and sang in two choirs. She loved being around her family and spoiling her greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Don J. Hogg father, J. Burrows Pope mother, Mae Belle Pope and two sisters, Roberta Lilley and Carol Louise Allen.

She is survived by one son, James M. Deanna Hogg of Clovis, NM one sister, Georgianna Manosh of Morrisville, VT one brother William D. Barbara Pope of Northfield, VT grandchildren DShay Waylon Vela, Shantell Miguel Gutierrez, Landon Samantha Hogg seven greatgrandchildren Blake and Peytin Vela, Rylee and Donovan Gutierrez, Mariya Hogg, Jesiah Martinez and Sophia Hogg several nieces and nephews many cousins.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2010 at Parkland Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Kirby and Pastor Wayne Boydstun officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, NM. Pallbearers will be Howard Zimmerman, Weldon Kube, Ralph Essex, Bernard Turnipseed, and Tom Fulmer. Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of the Parkland Baptist Choir and Member of the Clovis Gem and Mineral Society.
