Ray A. Bell, Age 93, of Clovis, New Mexico died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Texas Tech University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 16th. Pile Church of Christ, with Pastor Garrett Bookout officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Ray Scrub was born November 23, 1920 to William and Louisa Bell in Pleasant Hill, New Mexico. He married Peggy Lou Burnham on April 5, 1949. Ray, the second youngest of twelve children, is the last child of that family to pass away.
During his life, Ray worked as a welder in the California shipyards, joined the Army during War II. He returned to New Mexico, working for the railroad and New Mexico highway department .
Ray loved to work in the garden at the farm. He invented and built farm equipment, using his expert welding skills. He was a member of the 16th. Pile Church of Christ.
Survivor is his son, William Ray Bell of Clovis, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lou, and Bell family, parents, William Louisa, brothers Adis Dutch Bell, Donald cot Bell, Glenn Skinny Bell, Horace Hoss Bell, Lawrence Bell, Maurice Fud Bell, Millard Mutt Bell, sisters Genevieve Bell Randall, Gladys Bell King, Ruth Bell Doolittle, Wilma Bill Bell Smith.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Test and Dr. Darais and the nursing staff of the Medical ICU at Texas Tech University Medical Center for their compassionate care of Ray during his stay there.
