Raymond Martin

March 1, 1921 — January 3, 2012

Raymond C. Martin, beloved father, and WWII veteran, passed from this life on January 3, 2012. Raymond was born on March 1, 1921, to Virgil and Golda Culpepper Martin. Raymond and his family were long time residents of Farwell, Texas, where his kids were raised and attended Farwell public schools. His family were members of the First Baptist Church in Farwell. Raymond was a construction worker on numerous grain elevators in the Panhandle area. He also managed the Texico Truck Stop in Texico, NM and sold seed to area farmers and ranchers. Raymond was a member of the Gideons International.

Raymond Martin is survived by Mertie Martin, his son and three daughters, Jimmy Ray Martin of Deming, NM, Kathy Phillips of Broken Arrow, OK, Shirlene Hunter of Skiatook, OK, and Peggy Blair, of Blue Ridge, TX. Mr. Martin has eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, James Martin of Wilmington, NC, William Martin of Auburn, CA and one sister, Carol McPherson of Ft. Worth, TX.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Mable Martin and Edith Blair Martin, a son, Dickie Lynn and two sisters.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. CST on January 7, 2012 at the Oklahoma Lane Cemetery.
